TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date25 December 1848
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionQueen Victoria is glad that Lord John Russell concurs with her that there is no hurry in the appointment of a permanent Embassy at Paris. The choice of Prince Napoleon de Montfort [Prince Napoléon-Jérôme Bonaparte] for the Special Mission to England is a judicious one, and it will soon be seen whether France intends to keep Embassies at Rome, Vienna and Madrid, etc..
The first theatrical performance is to take place on Thursday, and will be 'The Merchant of Venice', which might perhaps be of interest to Lord John. If so, the Queen would be glad if he would come to Windsor on Thursday and stay until Saturday.
