DescriptionQueen Victoria sanctions the abolition of Brick Duty. The Queen sanctions the reduction of Conveyance Duty; but she desires to be regularly informed of the measures before they are submitted to Parliament. Queen Victoria is pleased at the reception of Sir Charles Wood's(Chancellor of the Exchequer) financial statement in the Commons. The Agriculturists ought to be satisfied with the relief which will leave but a small surplus. With regard to the Gorham Case, the Queen returns the Archbishop of Canterbury's correspondence and approves Lord John Russell's letter on the Bishop of London's plan. Queen Victoria's pleasure that Lord Westminster (Robert Grosvenor, 2nd Marquess of Westminster) had accepted the Household Appointment of Lord Steward. The Queen quite expected that Lord Westminster would not accept the Rangership of Bushy Park. The Queen approves of Lord Langdale (Henry Bickersteth, Baron Langdale)'s appointment as Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords.
