TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date3 June 1850
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionQueen Victoria wishes to search for precedents relative to the creation of peers in the Royal Family. She has written to the Duke of Cambridge (Adolphus, 1st Duke of Cambridge) to this effect. The Queen regrets that Lord Ashley (Anthony Ashley Cooper, later 7th Earl of Shaftesbury)'s motion relative to delivery on Sundays was carried. She asks will it affect practice hitherto observed? Cases of emergency would render Sunday delivery important.
