Description
Queen Victoria considers that a scientific man should be added to the Cambridge University Commission. Otherwise there would be no confidence in any proposals as to the study of Science. The country of Belgium is in a most flourishing state. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert greatly enjoyed their visit to Ostend. Queen Victoria says that Lord John Russell will be grieved to hear of the death of Louis Philippe, King of the French - a sad ending to an eventful life. If he had died 4 years ago, what a sensation his death would have caused! A touching visit to this much-tried family. Nemours [Louis, Duke of Nemours, second son of King Louis Philippe] told Queen Victoria that the asylum afforded in this country was the comfort of the King's last days. Queen Victoria's tribute to the King.
