With regard to Diplomatic Appointments, Queen Victoria approves Sir Edmond Lyons to Stockholm and Mr. (Arthur Charles) Magenis to Switzerland. Colonel (Hugh) Rose was to be scretary of the Embassy at Constantinople. Queen Victoria wishes Lord Bloomfield (John Bloomfield, 2nd Baron Bloomfield) to go to Berlin, Lady Bloomfield having begged not to go to Lisbon. Sir (Hamilton) Seymour to go to St. Petersburg. (Sir Richard) Pakenham for Lisbon. Queen Victoria wishes Mr. Harry Howard to go to Berlin instead of the other Howard, who has been there so long as to have identified himself with a Party in Prussia; would do well in Vienna. Queen Victoria wishes a quiet steady man to go to Lisbon.
