DescriptionPrince Albert has mentioned the proposed honours to the Staff of the Great Exhibition. The acceptance or refusal of money was to be taken into consideration. Queen Victoria approves as follows: Knight Commander of the Bath for Colonel Reid and Mr. Richard Mayne; Companion of the Bath for Dr. Lyon Playfair, Sir Stafford Northcote, and Mr. Henry Cole; Knighthoods for Mr. Joseph Paxton, Mr. William Cubitt and Mr. Charles Wentworth Dilke. Doubts as to whether Charles Fox should be knighted, as there are others of merit; but if Lord John Russell recommends, Queen Victoria will not withhold her sanction. Queen Victoria approves of Mr Richard Torin Kindersley and Mr. James Parker as Vice Chancellors. Queen Victoria does not consider the Committee for the Extension of Suffrage very strong. She asks is Carlisle up to it?
