Description
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert are pleased and touched with Lord John Russell's expressions relative to the success of the Great Exhibition , the closing of which they much regret. It is peculiarly gratifying to the Queen to see her husband's name immortalised by the conception of a Great Treasury of Peace. Queen Victoria's gratitude to God in being united to so great, so noble and excellent a Prince. This year is the proudest of the Queen's life. Queen Victoria's regret that she could not witness the closing. A curious coincidence that it was on the anniversary of her betrothal. With regard to the Great Exhibition, the Queen will confer Knighthoods on those who are named by Lord John Russell. The Queen is sorry not to see Charles Wentworth Dilke [Commissioner of the Exhibition]'s name. He must receive some public distinction for his indefatigable work.
