TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
DateOctober 1851
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionQueen Victoria writes of the arrival of Louis Kossuth announced in the papers and the absurd and unbecoming manner of his reception. The Queen wishes that Lord John Russell could prevent Henry Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston, from receiving him; otherwise the effect on the Continent will be injurious. It must be made clear that it is not an act of the Queen and Government, but a private act of Palmerston's.
