TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date28 December 1851
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionQueen Victoria considers Baron Brunnow [Baron Philip Brunnow, envoy of the Russian Empire to the United Kingdom] to be presumptuous in insinuating that the Minister may be dismissed at the instigation of a Foreign Secretary. The Queen writes that it is difficult to reconcile Palmerston's excuse for absence with Stanley's note (Edward Stanley, 2nd Baron Stanley of Alderley) to Lord John Russell, where he says "I send you the Seals, as Lord P. will not pass through London on his way to Windsor".
