DescriptionArthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, finding that General George Bowles' military services entitled him to the honour and Grey concurring in the exception being made, the Military Commander's Cross of the Order of the Bath will be given to General Bowles. Queen Victoria has no objection to knighting the 2 Sheriffs on the occasion of her visit to the City; but this must not be taken as a right whenever the Queen goes there.
