Letter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date
10 July 1859
Writer
Victoria, Queen
Addressee
Russell, John, Lord
Description
The Queen notes that she had written on Friday asking Lord John what had been decided about the draft to Lord Bloomfield, on which she had made some observations and to which the consideration of the Cabinet had been adjoined [?] - but she has received no reply. In the meantime, she received last night a copy 'for her use' of the despatch dated as having been sent on 7 July, which is identical to the depatch which she understood was to be considered and altered. She questions how this happened, and assumes it must be a mistake in the office.
