Title
Letter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date
14 July 1859
Writer
Victoria, Queen
Addressee
Russell, John, Lord
Description
The Queen agrees with Lord John that England has no reason to seek a quarrel with France, and that the most appropriate line to take would be to be well armed and just to all its neighbours. She trusts that, as the poor Duchess of Parma appears to have been overlooked in the Italian peace, England will ask for justice and consideration for her. The Queen agrees with Lord John that it would now be useless to communicate to France the advice given to the Porte.
