TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date22 January 1860
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionThe Queen has received Lord John's reply to her two letters of yesterday, and gathers that he does not feel the drafts should have been sent before their submission for the Queen's approval. She is sorry for this, and trusts Lord John will prevent this happening in future. She notes that Lord John does not say whether Lord Bloomfield's despatch and Lord Cowley's letter were communicated to the Cabinet. She feels that the answer to be given to an overture from Prussia should be considered by the Cabinet as being of great importance to Britain's general position and policy. The Queen would also like the views expressed in her last two letters to be communicated to the Cabinet.
