TitleLetter from Queen Victoria to Lord John Russell
Date5 July 1859
WriterVictoria, Queen
AddresseeRussell, John, Lord
DescriptionAs the despatch is merely for Mr Corbett's own information, there is no objection to its being sent: although 'young Diplomatists', which the Queen believes Mr Corbett to be, 'are apt to construe general advice into instructions for over zealous action'. Queen Victoria asks on what basis does Count Bernstorff state it is proposed that this joint mediation of England, Prussia and Russia be undertaken.
