DescriptionLetter from Prince Albert to Lord John Russell returning a memorandum (not present) and discussing the subject of Roman Catholics in the the United Kingdom. He states that the Queen believes Lord Arundel, the one to deliver the publication of the 'Punctuation', to be 'inappropriate for the task'. Prince Albert reports that the Queen believes that any secret transaction with the Pope would make [the country] look weak and any government interference with Rome would cause public indignation. Instead the Queen suggests an official agent of the government go to Rome to deliver a message regarding the difficulties caused in the United Kingdom after the last Papal bull and ask for its revocation.
