Description
Letter from Lord Granville to Colonel Phipps on Dr. Lyon Playfair's suggestion for the Prince of Wales to distribute the awards for the International Exhibition of 1862 (see VIC/MAIN/F/28/7). He mentions their hesitance to ask as Queen Victoria could not permit any of her children to attend public events while they were still in a period of mourning. He advises against the seclusion and absenteeism from useful activities by the Royal Family.
