AddresseeVictoria, Queen
DescriptionLetter from Lord Stanhope to Queen Victoria on the position of Sir Charles Eastlake. He reports that at the last meeting of the Fine Arts Commission, the commissioners expressed their wish that Eastlake be rewarded for his long service to the commission. As he already fills two offices, that of President of the Royal Academy and Director of the National Gallery, he would not be eligible to be placed on the Annual Pension List. The commission instead suggests that a pension be granted to his wife, Lady Eastlake, and Stanhope asks that Her Majesty consider the matter.
