Description'Thirteenth Report of the Commissioners on the Fine Arts, with appendix. Presented to both Houses of Parliament by command of Her Majesty'. Reporting that their work as a commission has come to a close and therefore they would not need to undertake the difficult task of appointing a successor in the role of Chairman. They also report on the completion of Daniel Maclise's wall-painting and recommend that he carry out further work in the Royal Gallery. Plus the completion of Daniel Maclise's wall-painting, which was delayed due to experiments with the water-glass method, and the completion of paintings by Charles West Cope and Edward Matthew Ward. The commission also reports that the work on the statues of the sovereigns is ongoing and that a committee was appointed to investigate the deterioration of some of the frescoes. They also state that an estimate of £3,700 for the year has been submitted to the Treasury and in closing thank Sir Charles Eastlake for his service to the commission.

Commissioners present listed as; 'Stanhope (Chair), Newcastle, Palmerston, Russell, Willoughby De Eresby, Eversley, Lyndhurst, John Evelyn Denison, John Manners, Llanover and William Cowper.
