Letter from Sir Charles Eastlake to Colonel Charles Beaumont Phipps reporting that he had not received an answer from Prince Albert regarding the proposed estimate of the Fine Arts Commission for the Treasury. He states that as he has not received an answer before the deadline he will send an estimate of £2,000, however if he receives an answer from the Prince in time he will submit an estimate of £4,000.
