DescriptionCopy letter from the Prince Consort to Sir Charles Eastlake regarding the previous correspondence relating to the difficulties faced by Daniel Maclise in finishing his fresco (see VIC/MAIN/F/31/56-57). He states that all perishable material, such as oil and wood, should be eliminated from a 'monumental work' and that he believes the best method for such a painting is fresco. He also suggests to facilitate Maclise's working that the stained glass in the room be removed and a that a white sheet be placed opposite the window to reflect more light upon the painting (he includes a sketch to demonstrate).
