Copy letter from Prince Albert to Lord John Russell
Date
3 August 1853
Writer
Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Prince
Addressee
Russell, John, Lord
Description
Copy letter from Prince Albert to Lord John Russell in regards to the proposed motion of D. Seymour to request certain returns connected with the Fine Arts Commission in the Houses of Common. Prince Albert objects to the private minutes of the commissioners being published and feels that it would change the character of future proceedings as to frank discussion of the work submitted. He also believes that if they were to be published they would be 'wounding to the feelings of the artists'.
