Title
Letter from Lord John Russell to Queen Victoria
Date
2 December 1851
Writer
Russell, John, Lord; Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
Addressee
Victoria, Queen
Description
Letter from Lord John Russell to Queen Victoria reporting that Lord Lansdowne postponed Her Majesty's communication to Cabinet on her wishes respecting the Islington Deputation and the conduct of Foreign Affairs. He also comments on news from Paris and fears that Universal Suffrage would overwhelm the government there. Additionally, the consideration of the plan for an extended suffrage in the UK would be postponed. The only part of which he believed would cause any difference of opinion would be the introduction of the 'Scotch' and Welsh systems of contributory boroughs.
