Description
Letter from [Robert] Stephenson to Colonel Phipps forwarding his thanks to Prince Albert for receipt of HRH's plan for a method of obtaining solid matter and salts from sewage. He states that there may be some questions as to its efficiency in small towns and also some 'mechanical difficulties' in its application in London, particularly surrounding contamination and cost of collection.
