TitleLord Liverpool's statement
Date[October 1844]
WriterLiverpool, Lord
AddresseeAlbert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Prince
DescriptionLord Liverpool's statement on Prince Albert's plan to purchase Osborne estate. He states that their estimates for the cost of the estate are too low, that the island is relatively inaccessible, especially in the winter and that the position of the Isle of Wight is inconvenient for the children. Lincoln instead suggests a residence at Kew, in particular Lord Sidmouth's Lodge in Richmond Park, or Claremont, and that the cottage in Great Windsor Park could be used by the children. In addition, he also suggests that a role could be created for an architect to coordinate repairs, alterations and improvements to all Royal Palaces and could deal with Land Revenue on Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's behalf.
