DescriptionPrince Albert writes to Queen Victoria in German regarding the public announcement of their engagement and the positive reaction to it. He also mentions that Victoria plans to send him 'the Garter' and asks for the uniform to be sent to him in Coburg so that it can be fitted before his return to England. He also explains that a Declaration will be made during a ceremony at the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Court, of which he encloses a copy, along with a family tree of his House and his confession of faith. Albert also sets out his wishes for succession of the Coburg title for his male descendents.

A copy of the declaration is written in English and enclosed with the letter.
