Description
Letter from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria, written in German. At 9 o'clock he writes of his time on board the yacht and that their 'stupid ships of war' were not where they should have been and therefore they would have to 'run in without escort'. Later that day at half-past 1 o'clock, Albert writes that they have arrived safely and that the Emperor met him at the quay and he travelled with him by carriage to his hotel. He reports that he had 'two long talks' with the Emperor about the [Crimean War] and answered his concerns about Sir Charles Napier and Lord Stratford. He also writes of visiting the camps and mentions that 'The Emperor thaws more and more'.
