Letter from Sir Charles Beaumont Phipps to the Prince Consort reporting that he had spoken to Lord Newcastle and explained to him the Queen's proposal, that he should attend the tour of Canada with the Prince of Wales. He writes that Lord Newcastle expressed his gratitude and his desire to first check with the Colonial Office and Lord Palmerston before making a decision. Phipps states that he has asked for his Lordship's answer as soon as possible so that arrangements for the tour can be started.
