Description
Letter from the Duke of Newcastle to the Prince Consort, from aboard the H.M.S. 'Hero', reporting that the Cornish Volunteers had received leave from the War Office to fire a salute for the Prince of Wales. However, they would not make it in time and as a result the ship would not set sail as early as intended.
