DescriptionLetter from the Duke of Somerset to the Prince Consort discussing the suitability of particular vessels for the tour. He encloses a list of suggested ships and a memorandum prepared by the Hydrographer stating the depth of the water up to Montreal (see VIC/MAIN/Z/466/5). He suggests that the 'Hero', 'Ariadne' and 'Flying Fish' would be best suited for the tour and asks on which ship a suite should be prepared for the Prince of Wales.
