TitleLetter from Prince Albert to Lord Melbourne
Date[30 December 1839 - 11 January 1840]
WriterAlbert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Prince
AddresseeMelbourne, 2nd Viscount
DescriptionPrince Albert thanks Lord Melbourne for the letter with his views on his position. He expresses his disagreement with Lord Melbourne's suggestion regarding the establishment of his Household. He points out two opposing systems - one where he has his own Household of a mixture of Whigs and Tories and the other where his Household is formed according to the views of the ministry. Prince Albert argues that a combination of the two systems would be impossible.
