Description
This group of letters were sent by the Duke of Clarence to either Sir Henry Halford or Sir William Knighton during the last months of George IV's life. As the Duke addresses the recipient as 'Sir' it is not possible to identify the addressee in each case.
Both Halford and Knighton were assisting the King as, respectively, physician and 'unofficial' Private Secretary. Knighton also had medical knowledge however and had served as physician to George IV as Prince of Wales. Moreover, the Duke addresses them only as 'Sir'.
