Expressing his gratitude for her 'dear note' and apologising for not having instantly acknowledged it. He thanks God that Elizabeth [her sister, Marchioness of Huntly] has been safely delivered of a boy 'so well after all her sufferings' and he hopes and prays that her little boy 'may yet do well.' Thanking Lady Maria for having so speedily conveyed the happy tidings and asking her to relay any thing further from New Norfolk Street.
Signed with initials and dated Friday evening 7 o'clock.
