Sandwich has not yet received a letter from the Chancellor; 'The Town is full of consternation & strange Reports - and these are encreased by the silence of the Papers'; a possible meeting between [William] Pitt and the Duke [?]; the necessity of seeing Payne in person 'as there are some most important considerations which can only be treated of in conversation, but which it is of the utmost consequence should be submitted to the Prince's early attention'; and expressing concern on the health of the Prince of Wales.
