Letter from William, Duke of Clarence to Captain Duncombe Pleydell Bouverie
Date
8 October 1828

Clarence and St Andrews, William, Duke of
Addressee
Bouverie, Duncombe Pleydell-, Admiral The Honourable
Description
William is confident that he will make a very good commander for the [HMS] Windsor Castle. Because he has been absent from the Cabinet, William is not very well informed about the mission of the Duke of Wellington, but he is able to tell that previous cabinets and the current Administration as well, always acted to prevent war between Russia and Turkey. Although William is concerned about the Duke of Wellington's most recent actions with regard to this matter, he is more worried about Captain Duncombe's wellbeing.
